Rita (Nunes) Lafleur, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 15th after a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Raymond Lafleur, to whom she had been married for 58 years. Loving mother to Raymond Lafleur Jr., Donna Zitano, Christine Roy and Stacy Tavares as well as to her daughter-in-law Joan and sons-in-law, Wayne Zitano, Marc Roy and John Tavares. Adoring nana to Jared, Corey, Brooke, Amanda, Aaron, Matthew, Jason, Lauren, Jeremy, Justin, Jessica, Nicholas, Seth, Riley, Brenan and Sarah. Loving aunt to Mary Botelho, her husband Frank, their daughter Paula Rego and her family. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Manuel and Victoria Nunes. She is survived by sister Lucy Fazzina, brother Alfred Nunes and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters.
Rita worked at Durfee High cafeteria until her retirement in 1997. Previously she worked at White's Restaurant as a banquet waitress. Her greatest joy and achievement was her family. She enjoyed dancing, reading, spending time with her family, and socializing with her many friends. In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life was offered on Saturday December 6th in Immaculate Conception Church.
