Rita (Mello) Pires, the wife of the late Gilbert Pires, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 91.  Mrs. Pires was born in Fall River and was a daughter of the late Mariano and the late Adeline (Amaral) Mello.  Rita was a seamstress prior to her retirement. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing cards, and spending time in the Tiverton Senior Center. Mrs. Pires also enjoyed teaching others her craft of sewing.  She is survived by her two sons: Arthur Pires and his wife Helen of Bristol and Gilbert Pires of Tiverton; one grandson, Adam Pires  and his wife Kristen; two great grandchildren, Aaron Pires and Makenzie Pires. She was the aunt of several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pires was the sister of the late Arthur Mello and the late Mary Almeida. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 26th, in St. Theresa Church in Tiverton, followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
