Robert Amarantes, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Mary-Jane (Santos) Amarantes of Fall River. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John Amarantes and the late Gloria (Cambra) Amarantes. Employed for many years as a master carpenter, he was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 94. He worked for the former John Clark Donatelli Construction Company in Rhode Island and for many other area contractors over his long career. Robert was devoted to his family and was blessed with a large one. He was a loving father to Ian Amarantes, Jennifer Rapoza, Carolyn Roias, Brian Roias, Bruce Roias, Diana Sefrino, Robert Amarantes, Beverly Amarantes, Michael Amarantes, Steven Amarantes, Mark Amarantes, Stacy Lessa, Scott Amarantes, and the late Holly Amarantes. Bob also leaves five brothers; John Amarantes, Albert Amarantes, Gilbert Amarantes, Manuel Amarantes and James Amarantes, three sisters; Constance DeMello, Lorraine Silvia and Margaret Barboza, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Especially comforting to Bob was his great granddaughter Adriana Mae Machado, his ray of sunshine whose mere presence was able to boost his spirit and ease his pain. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Anthony of Padua Church. Cremation was private.
