Obituary

Robert Leo Kelly, better known as "Kel," 67, of Fall River, husband of Susan B. (Travassos) Landry Kelly, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph Kelly and the late Clare (Cunningham) Kelly.

A laborer with the city of Fall River, he worked for many years at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Quite the athlete in his younger days and known for having hit the farthest home run ball ever out of Columbus Park, Kel was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at both the BMC Durfee High School and the St. Clair County Community College, Port Huron, Michigan, where his 1976 team made an impressive run at the national title. He enjoyed volunteering with local baseball leagues in various capacities to include managing and coaching. Kel was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #118 of Fall River.

Besides his wife of 18 years, he is survived by: two sons, Eric Kelly (former wife Kristyn) of Fall River and Sneaker Landry (fiancée Courtney Blake) of Bethel, Maine; adopted family, Mac, Stephanie, Jacob, and Lucas; a brother, Alan Kelly of Florida; three grandchildren, Seamus Robert Kelly, Ella Mae Kelly, and Harper Landry. Kel was also a brother of the late Jospeh Kelly.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 1st, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
