Obituary

Robert P. Kennedy, a loving husband, devoted father, beloved brother, and loyal son, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and cherished memories. He was the cherished husband of Maria (Arruda) Kennedy, the love of his life, and a proud father to Ryan (married to Lillian), Patrick, Ayden, Carissa (married to Laura), and Kaisey.

Bob's greatest joy in life was his wife and children. He embraced family and fatherhood with pride and purpose. Known as a true "football dad," he was a constant presence on the sidelines—cheering, coaching, and mentoring—not just his own boys, but many others who came to see him as a second father. His devotion to his family and his extended community of young athletes was a reflection of his boundless heart.

Bob found immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren—Luna, Riley, River, Noah, and Rowan—as well as his nieces, nephews, and his two beloved dogs, Bruin and Fenway.

Born to Joseph P. Kennedy and the late Linda J. (Paquin) Kennedy, Bob is also survived by his stepmother, Mary (Martins) Kennedy, and his brother, Joseph W. Kennedy (married to Stephanie).

Known for his unwavering loyalty, easy laughter, and warm spirit, Bob built deep, lasting connections with his many friends and loved ones. He had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the room—seen, heard, and truly valued. He always came in with a smile, clearly happy to see everyone—often getting them with one of his big bear hugs and picking up conversations as if no time had passed. His presence lit up every room, and reconnecting with familiar faces brought him genuine joy.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob's love for athletics began early on the basketball courts of CYO and Bishop Connolly, and the baseball fields of St. Anne's Little League, Maplewood League, and the CYO League. One of his proudest moments came in 1990, when he pitched the final game of the season, helping the Bishop Connolly Cougars win their first state championship. His passion for sports continued throughout his life as he coached his sons' football, baseball, soccer and basketball teams, sharing in their triumphs and shaping countless memories.

Bob also loved to travel and attend concerts with family and friends. A dedicated golfer, he never missed the chance to support charitable tournaments. Whether playing cards or exchanging witty banter, his humor and adventurous nature were ever-present. His weekends were often spent doing yard work, visiting dog parks, and enjoying local breweries with Maria and their cherished dogs always by his side—fully embracing the joy found in life's simple moments.

Professionally, Bob was a dedicated and dependable employee at National Grid, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and integrity. He also gave back to his community as an active member of the Somerset Lions Club, where he supported countless local initiatives with generosity and care.

Bob had a rare gift for bringing people together. His kindness, authenticity, and heartfelt presence made a lasting impression on everyone he met—friends, colleagues, and even those who encountered him only briefly.

He will be remembered for the love he gave, the life he lived with passion, and the bonds he nurtured. His legacy endures in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 7th, at Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Fall River.
