Robert D. Schoonover, 57, of Fall River, former husband of Sharon Brown and Beth Schoonover, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Verne E. and Elizabeth Ellen (Carpenter) Schoonover. He proudly served the City of Fall River for many years as Police Officer until his illness most recently. An avid Red Sox and Bruins fan, he also loved softball, playing for the Lawmen. Bob enjoyed traveling to such places as Florida, New Hampshire, Mexico, and going on several cruises. Selfless, kind, and very patient, he was also considered "the life of the party" at family gatherings. He leaves: his children, Ryan Tyler Schoonover of Fall River and Lyndsey Elizabeth Schoonover of Assonet; three brothers, Verne Schoonover and his wife Muriel, George J. Schoonover and his wife Deborah, and Kenneth Schoonover, all of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Clifford L. Schoonover. His Funeral Service was held on Thursday, February 8th , during calling hours in our Fall River Chapel . His private cremation followed.
