Obituary

Roland J. Beaulieu, 85 of Tiverton, husband of Sophia (Ventura) Beaulieu, died Sunday 8/7/11 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Westport, son of the late Emile & Rose (DeLima) Beaulieu, he lived in Tiverton, for the past 38 years and had also resided in Fall River for many years. A research engineer at Brown University for over 25 years until his retirement about 10 years ago, he had also been a watchmaker and jeweler. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a lover of animals and birds, and especially enjoyed gardening and taking care of his land.
Besides his wife, he leaves: a daughter, Joan Macri of Somerset; 4 siblings, Estelle Ferreira, Rita Demers, Lorraine Smith & Edmond Beaulieu; 2 granddaughters, Cathryn Rose (husband Mark) & Carolyn Dube (husband Dan): 5 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Alex & Christian Rose, Erica & Jessica Dube; many nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Alvine LaPlante, Bernadette Masse, Emelda Waite, Bertha Manchester, Arthur, Armand & Wilfred Beaulieu. His funeral was private in accordance with his wishes. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Donations in his memory to Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood, St., Fall River, MA, 02721, would be appreciated.
