Roland M. Quental, age 86, of Somerset, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Dolores (Moniz) Quental. Born in Somerset, he was a son of the late Carlos Quental and the late Alexandrina (Goncalo) Quental. He was employed for many years as a carpenter with the Laflamme Brothers, and later performed finish work at Blount Marine for several years. Roland was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, he saw action as a heavy machine gunner in Germany and France. In addition to Dolores, his wife of 56 years, family members include four children, Christopher Quental of Somerset, Mary Murphy of West Warwick, RI, Joanne Hunt of Douglas, MA, and Paula Pendleton of Boothbay, ME, a sister-in-law, Natalie Vieira of Tacoma WA, two brothers, David Quental of Spring TX, and Charles Quental of Fall River, four sisters, Connie Amaral and Cheryl Root, both of East Providence, and Rita & Catherine Quental, both of Somerset, four grandchildren, Lauren Avedisian, Seth Quental, Chelsie & Sara Martin, and many nieces & nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Jesse Zawerucka. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 11, in St Thomas More Church followed by a committal service at St Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
