Ronald A. Soares, 69, of Swansea, passed away on March 31, 2009 unexpectedly. Husband of 49 years of Marlene (Mello) Soares. Born in Fall River, son of the late Antone and Alice (Gaspar) Soares. His many accomplishments were: an eagle scout, service in the U.S. Marine Corps; Associates Degree from Johnson and Wales and an auto mechanic teacher at Dighton Rehoboth High School. He worked as a diesel mechanic for various construction companies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and an avid fan of NASCAR. Ron was father of Kim-Ann Soares, Ronald J. Soares (wife Linda) and Richard A. Soares (wife Kelly); brother of Helen M. DeMarco; grandfather of Thomas Tobin, Tiffany Pavao, Ronald E. and Jacob J. Soares. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and his dog, Channel. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John of God Church. Pallbearers were Greg DeMello, Paul Dupont, Claudia Mello, Mikel Moran, David Oliveira and Paul Duclos. Cremation was private.
