Born in Fall River, son of the late Augustine Daniel Amaral and the late Mary (Michael) Amaral, he also lived in Somerset for 25 years, then in Assonet for 15 years, moving to Tiverton 21 years ago.
He attended Fall River schools and took some business courses at Johnson & Wales. Ron was proud to have honorably served his country as a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps in the late 1950s. For many years he owned and operated Amaral & Son Pork Products formerly of Fall River. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Cassidy Council #3669 of Swansea, he had also enjoyed participating in its golf league. He loved traveling with his wife, especially the 54 cruises they enjoyed together.
Besides his wife, of 64 years, he is survived by: a son, Alan M. Amaral (wife Linda); two daughters, Paula Amaral Gonsalves (husband Edward) and Laurie Amaral Vasconcellos (husband Gary); eight grandchildren, Matthew Gonsalves, Andrew Gonsalves, Kirsten Gonsalves Silva, Rebecca Amaral Cummings, Michael Amaral, Louisa Amaral, Mackenzie Vasconcellos, and Britney Vasconcellos; three step-grandchildren, Tierney, Delaney, and Will Thompson; six great grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Menker; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 3rd, at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton, RI, followed by the rendering of military honors. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ron's memory to a charity of one's choice – suggesting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any research to fight cancer.
