Ronald Joseph "Charlie" Assad, 73, of Westport, husband of Linnea J. (Kisko) Assad, passed away Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Alexander & Margaret (Azar) Assad, he worked as a mechanic for 27 years with the post office, retiring in 1992, and also owned/operated Pond View Auto Sales of Westport. An army veteran of the Vietnam Era, he was a member of the Lebanese American Veterans Association. He also enjoyed membership in the Lebanese American Club. He loved cars, but most of all he loved his granddaughters & great granddaughter.
Besides his wife, he leaves: 2 sons, Michael A. Assad (Sheri) of Fall River, and Mark A. Assad (Stacy) of Fall River; 3 siblings, Carol A. Guimond of Tiverton, RI, John D. Assad of Wareham, MA, and Gerald A. Assad of Westport, MA; 3 granddaughters, K'Lin, Patricia, and Ava; 1 great granddaughter, Adrianna; many beloved nieces & nephews.
Ron was a generous and kind man to those in need. He gave of his talents and whatever means he could to many of us.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 19th in St Anthony of the Desert Church. His private cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
