Ronald L. Naro, 68 of No. Dighton, husband of Barbara (Melvin) Naro, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Orchard View Manor, East Providence, RI, after a long illness. Born in Albany, NY, son of the late Louis & Gretna "Billie" (Baughman) Naro, he was formerly of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, also lived for 10 years in Watertown, and resided in Dighton for the past 20 years. A collection agency manager for many years, he worked with the former Metropolitan Collection Bureau of Brookline, MA. A Vietnam Era Navy/Marines Seabee veteran, he was a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America, and a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars ("VFW"), including a life membership with Post 611 in Taunton, MA, and serving as past Commander of Post 2094 for 10 years, as well as Commander of District 6 for a short time. He loved movies, music, Start Trek, debating & discussing religion; and enjoyed football & playing guitar. Besides his wife, he leaves: 3 children, Tech Sgt E6 Daniel Naro (wife Katie) of Pensacola, FL, Anthony Naro (wife Aileen) of Cary, NC, and Nicholas Naro of No. Dighton; 2 siblings, Catherine Knox & Robert Naro both of Dighton; a granddaughter, Jocelyn; several nieces & nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, June 2, in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Dighton, followed by military honors and then cremation. His ashes will be placed in a columbarium at the Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
