Ronald R. Rodrigues, 86, of Somerset, husband of the late Lorraine (Felix) Rodrigues, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Mariano Rodrigues and the late Mary (Silva) Rodrigues.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, he proudly and bravely served his Country during peacetime and the Vietnam Era. He retired from the Naval Reserve in 1985, having achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He also retired in 1992 from the United States Postal Service in Fall River after 26 years. Ron was a member of Branch 51, NALC for over 55 years. He graduated from BMC Durfee High School class of 1954 and Bristol community college (with honors) in 1973. He loved photography, particularly of weddings and Little League games, and traveling to such places as Florida, San Diego, and Seattle. He also enjoyed meeting up with his friends regularly at the Pine Street VA in Fall River. Ronald was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Fall River Council #86, member of Fr. Boehr Council Knights of Columbus Tiverton, past Faithful Navigator of Fr. Joseph B. Donahue Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Tiverton, past president of St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John of God Parish, former Commanding Officer of Providence, Rhode Island Naval Sea Cadets Corps, life member of Ed Couto Chapter, N.E.R.A., member of Greater Fall River Chapter 115, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, member of American Legion Post 228 (Somerset), member of Amvets Louis Colon Post 72, secretary of Windrifter Resort Association in Wolfeboro, N.H., and member of Battleship Cove Emergency CB Club.
He leaves his three loving sons, David and his wife, Tina, of Simpsonville South Carolina, Michael and his wife, Robin, of Somerset, and Christopher and his wife, Robin, of Lake Forest Park, WA; his six grandchildren Joshua (Kaitlin) of Greenville, TN, Aaron of USAF, Sarah of Somerset, MA, Joseph Rodrigues of Lake Forest Park, Rebecca, and Katie Rose Mahan (Avi); five great-grandchildren; one brother, Mariano "Rod" Rodrigues and his wife, Ann, of Sun City Center, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marie Vig.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 4th, at St. John of God Church in Somerset, followed by his committal with Military Honors at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
