Rosa Pontes Silva, 91, wife of Jose Carvalho Silva, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at St Anne's Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fenais da Luz, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel Rego Pontes and the late Senhorinha (Melo) Pontes, she emigrated to Fall River in April of 1970, and worked for a time in the local textile industry. An active parishioner at Espirito Santo Church, she was a member of its Holy Rosary Society.

Besides her husband, of 65 years, she leaves: four children, Luis A. Silva (wife Mary) of Swansea, Joseph F. Silva (wife Goretti) of Swansea, Carlos M. Silva (wife Mary) of Westport, and Lucy Camara (husband Messias) of Dartmouth; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Karen, Ryan, Kevin, Eric, Jared, Kyle, Ashley, Megan and Cory; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by many siblings and step-siblings.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, January 17th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
