Rosa E. Varao, 86, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel S. Varao, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Sarah Brayton Nursing Center following a brief illness. Born in Cabouco, Lagoa, St.Michael. Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose Maria Pereira and the late Julieta da Gloria Teixeira.

Prior to her retirement she worked in the local textile industry for many years. She loved cooking and baking, especially her delicious massa and arroz doce. An avid animal lover, Rosa also enjoyed gardening and, most importantly, spending quality time with all of her family.

She leaves her loving sons, Fernando J. Varao and his wife, Odilia, and Joseph M. Varao and his wife, Inez, both of Westport; her six grandchildren, Sara Lindo, Marissa Varao, Andrew Varao, Julia Varao, Phillip Varao, and Brent Varao; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Rose Lindo and Joseph Andrew Lindo; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manuel Teixeira and the late Jose Pereira.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 15th, Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rosa's memory to: Forever Paws. 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721; 508-677-9154.
