Obituary

Rose (Amaral) Hunt, of Swansea, widow of Herman J. Hunt, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Dighton, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph P. Amaral and the late Maria (Travis) Amaral, she lived in Somerset for 50 years, moving to Swansea in 2009.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years, including 29 years with Fayette Sportwear, from which she retired in 1978. Rose was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("I.L.G.W.U.") now called UNITE. She had also worked at Firestone Rubber for 3 years during WWII making gas masks.

She is survived by: a son, Herman B. Hunt (wife Joan) of Warren, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews, including a godchild, Raymond Brothers of Swansea and Kelly Hayward of Swansea who had helped as her caregiver. Rose was also the youngest of ten children, and is predeceased by all of her siblings: Manuel, Mary, Lena, William, Joseph, Irene, Gladys, Dorothy, and Arthur.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 29th, in St. Patrick's Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery, both in Somerset.
