Rose Marie (Martin) Souza, age 75, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the beloved wife of Herman Souza. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Martin and the late Rose (Ferreira) Martin. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was a graduate of B. M. C. Durfee High School, Class of 1952. Rose Marie was employed for twenty nine years in the office at the former Bradlees in Somerset until her retirement in 1996. She also worked with her family for many years at their New Boston Bakery on New Boston Road in Fall River. She was a communicant of Holy Name Church. In addition to her husband, Herman, surviving family members include three children, Michael J. Souza and his wife Darlene, of Swansea, MA, James M. Souza of Fall River, and Gale M. Powers and her husband William, also of Fall River, two grandchildren, Ava R. Souza and Michael N. Souza, both of Swansea. She also leaves a niece and several nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Name Church, Pallbearers Stephen Medeiros, Brian Souza, Shaun Souza, Robert Martel, Nile and Rory O'Donnell brought Rose to her final resting place at Notre Dame Cemetery In her memory contributions in may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
