Ruth S. Walkden, 70, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at St. Anne's Hospital. Retired after years of service with CCBC as a residential manager for a group home, she enjoyed helping others, but her family was her life.
She is survived by: three children, Deborah L. Vieira, Robert L. Barlow, and Julie L. Barlow all of Fall River; a brother, Richard Crossley of Fall River; and grandchildren Julia, Jeremy, Ryan, and Jenna, and great-grandchildren Anthony and Lydia; several nieces and nephews. Other family members who preceded her in death are: three children, Maryah Jae Carol Crossley, Carol Ann Crossley, and Brian J. Crossley; two siblings, Carol M. Crossley and George E. Crossley, Jr.; and a grandchild, Brian R. Crossley.
Following her cremation, a Celebration of Ruth's Life was held on Saturday, July 17th, at the TA Restaurant on South Main St. in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make donations in Ruth's memory to the Hasbro Children's Hospital, RI Hospital Foundation, PO Box H, Providence, RI 02903 or Meeting Street Schwartz School, would be greatly appreciated.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
