Sader S. "Suds" "Sam" Assad, 82, of Westport, died on October 18, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Verrechia) Assad, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage. Son of the late Saleem & LuLu (Milan) Assad. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was an owner of Assad Brothers Service Station in Fall River for 48 years. He was a member of the Lebanon-American Society, belonged to the American Legion #303 in Swansea and enjoyed spending his winters in Naples, FL. He was brother of Nazer "Nan" Assad of Somerset, uncle of Dr. Charles Assad, Atty. David Assad, Steven Assad, James Mendoza, Kevin Mendoza, Paula Assad and Barbara Smith. He was also brother of the late Kalile, Aseeb and Wajeek "Henry" Assad, Nancy Mendoza and Sophie Assad. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of the Desert Church. Pallbearers Steve and Charles Assad, Kevin and James Mendoza and Barbara Smith brought Sam to his final resting place at Notre Dame Cemetery.
