Samuel Thomas, Jr, 71, of Somerset, husband of Freda (Saber) Thomas, died on June 19, 2009 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Providence RI, son of the late Samuel & Margaret (Asermily) Thomas, he lived in Somerset for the past 39 years. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for various companies, including the former Rust Craft of Dedham and the former Data Packaging of Somerset, until his retirement in the late 1980s. An Army veteran having honorably served his country in Germany during the mid 1950s, he was a member of the Lebanese-American Veterans Association. He was also a member of the Lebanon American Club. Besides his wife of 48 years, he leaves: daughters, Sheila E. Dessert, Stacey J. Soares & Stephanie L. Mendoza all of Fall River; sisters, Alice Saber of Fall River & Joan Zainyeh of Pawtucket, RI; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the of late Ernest Thomas & Mary Coury. His funeral was held at Calvary United Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years. His committal service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery.
