She was born in Fall River, MA, to the late Malcolm Ratte and Alice Dionne, both originally from Quebec, Canada. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Attorney Antonio R. She found great joy and pride in her grandchildren, Rachel Bernardo and Daniel Bernardo, who were the lights of her life. Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Dion.
Shirley proudly served in the US Women's Army Corps as a Sergeant during the Korean War. She continued her government service with the IRS as a taxpayer consultant prior to her retirement. Shirley was a travel enthusiast who explored historical landmarks all over the world, always keeping an open mind and immersing herself in different environments. Shirley's warmth and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she had touched, with her kindness and generosity. Shirley will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her indomitable spirit, her compassion, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. May she rest in peace.
