Shirley A. (Medeiros) DiNucci Howe, 63, of Fall River, died unexpectedly Wednesday 10/20/10 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Jose Medeiros and the late Gertrude (Mello) Medeiros Jones, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was a graduate of Fisher Junior College, class of 78-79, and UMass Dartmouth, class of 2002, where she earned an associate's degree in business with a minor in medical assisting, and a bachelor's degree in social work. Shirley enjoyed working in the human service field, starting her career as a medical secretary at Somerset Ridge Center, followed by employment at Gabriel Care AFC as a social worker. She next worked for Catholic Social Services as a housing expert, and most recently at Citizens For Citizens teaching computer skills to the elderly, her first love. Shirley was known for her 'big heart', her great listening abilities, her kindness and understanding, by all who came in contact with her, especially her sister, Louise, who was her constant companion. She loved traveling, trips with her family and cousins, penny sales with friend Diane, shopping, education, and was content to just be with her family – as she will always be in their hearts, especially on July 4th, her birthday. She leaves: a son, Frank DiNucci of Fall River; a sister, Louise Jordan (husband Steven P.) of Fall River; 2 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was also sister of the late Susan Medeiros. Her Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, October 27, in Santo Christo Church. A committal service followed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
