Silvestre F. Pavao, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Maria Isabel (Fernandes) Pavao of Fall River. Born in the village of Povoacao, on the island of St. Michael the Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Pavao and the late Filomena (Fagundo) Pavao. In 1960, at age 15, Mr. Pavao left the Azorean Islands for the island of Bermuda. After residing in Bermuda for five years he moved to Fall River in 1965 and was later naturalized as a citizen of the United States. He was employed at Lightolier in Fall River for thirty one years. A member of the Fall River Sports Club on Hope Street in Fall River, he was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Silvestre was a communicant of Santo Christo Church. In addition to Maria, his wife of 42 years, family members include two sons, Michael Pavao and Brian Pavao, both of Fall River, his daughter, Anita Pavao of Philadelphia, PA, a grandson Jared Pavao, also of Fall River, and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. His Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday (2/16) in Santo Christo Church. Committal services followed at Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
