Silvina S. Pavao, 85, of Fall River, widow of Manuel Pavao, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Bretanha, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Joao & Mariana (Marcelino Camara) Raposo, she lived in Fall River most of her life.
She had worked as a sewing machine operator in the local garment industry, at former Bomark then Clear-View, and was a member of the ILGWU (now UNITE). A longtime active parishioner at Espirito Santo Church, and member of its Holy Rosary Society, she was a Marion Medal recipient.
She is survived by: 6 children, Fatima Correia (husband Tony), Manuela Martin (husband Bruno), Filomena Pinto (husband Joe), Lourdes Raposo (husband Gilberto) & Cecilia Raposo (husband Joao) all of Fall River, and Manuel Pavao (wife Lisa) of Dartmouth; 6 siblings, Maria Camara, Jose Raposo & Marcia Tavares all of Ontario, Canada, Eva Raposo & Mariana de Almeida both of Fall River, and Teresa Camara of E. Providence; 9 grandchildren, Stacy Barroso, Nancy Chicca, Derek Pinto, Venessa Vasconcellos, Jason Martin, Kelly Abelha, Hillary Coelho, Travis Martin, and Kyle Correia; 6 great grandchildren, Abigail, Madison, Marissa, Alaina, Benjamin, and Grace; many nieces & nephews.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 30th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
