Stephen P. Andrade, 60, of Dighton, husband of Heather Little-Andrade, died Tuesday December 25th unexpectedly at home. Born in Fall River, son of the late Armand & Dolores (Pacheco) Andrade, he was a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor's in Architecture & Gerontology, cum laude, class of 76 and a graduate of Harvard with a Masters of City & Regional Planning, with distinction, class of 78. He also studied abroad, at the Architectural Association, London, England with a focus on Energetics of the Built Environment. He was a Senior Research Scientist with Battelle for the last 8 years. Prior to this Stephen held a variety of positions including Director, Corporate & Professional Development at Bridgewater State University, President of the Southeastern Massachusetts Manufacturing Partnership (a regional economic development collaborative of 5 mayors and 2 university presidents) and as a City Planner with the City of Philadelphia, PA. His research included Barrier Free Design, ANSI 117.1 Standard for Making Buildings Accessible (HUD funded research with the Architecture Research Office). Besides his wife, he was the loving father to Jesse Andrade of Dighton & Raquel Andrade of South Boston, and leaves 2 loving grandchildren Zachariah & Anastasia. He is survived by brothers, David of Piles Grove, NJ, Jeffrey of Westport, MA, Thomas of Edgewater, FL, Lawrence of Tiverton, RI, Mark of Sutton, MA and Eric of Somerset, MA and sister, Mary Ellen James of Inverness, FL; and was predeceased by his late brother Kevin. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 3, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
