Steven Anthony Durand, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in Providence. He was born in Fall River, the son of Connie (Dias) Durand of Portsmouth, RI and the late Paul A. Durand.

A Biological Medicinal Technical Manager, Steven worked at various clinics, most importantly including the Dialysis Clinic. He was a former communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton.

He enjoyed the life of a traveling "Gypsy," as he had lived and traveled up and down the East Coast, ever since graduating from Tiverton High School, class of 1991. Steven also earned an associate degree from Bristol Community College. He lived in Florida, South Carolina, and returned to Rhode Island in 2019.

His time spent in the south – with his enjoyment of the beaches, painting landscapes, and listening to his favorite music (Johnny Cash) – is where he was most truly fulfilled in his life. His family was the most important thing to him, and he would always be "home" for Christmas.

Besides his mother, he is survived by: his aunts, Carol LaRevere (her late husband, Bill) of South Carolina and Isebel Uncao of Fall River; his uncles, Manny Dias (his wife, Adalina) of Fall River, Oscar Dias (his wife, Zita) of Tiverton, and Louie Dias of Florida; and many cousins. He also leaves his lifelong friend, Keith Smith.

Steven's services were held privately, under the care of the Silva-Faria Funeral Homes.
