Fall River

Obituary

Sylvia E. (Noguiera) LaRue, 83 of Fall River, passed away on May 16, 2020 at Fall River Health nursing home, after a long fight with her illnesses. She was the wife of the late Robert LaRue. Sylvia was born in Fall River and was one of two daughters of the late Maria (Cordeiro) and Carlos Nogueira.

She was a secretary at the Fall River Gas Company for many years.  Prior to that, she held down a variety of jobs: Including seamstress and dental assistant. Sylvia was a member of the former Holy Rosary Parish, where she practiced her Catholic faith.  At home, Mrs. LaRue enjoyed artistic projects and interior decorating - her house was her most prized creation. She was an avid collector of fine porcelain and glassware. Her family was always important to her; she showed endless devotion to her daughter and grandchildren. Sylvia will be remembered for her hard work, fierce love, and the positive impact she had on the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by: her daughter Ana Hilton; 2 grandchildren, Aaron Hilton and Sara Hilton; a sister Mary Lou Lima, all of Fall River, 5 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Sylvia's private funeral was held on Saturday, May 23rd, from our Fall River Chapel followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery. When the current crisis allows, her family is planning to celebrate her life with a Memorial Funeral Mass which will be announced here.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.

To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
