Teresa Nowicki, 87, of Somerset, formerly of Fall River, widow of Theodore Nowicki, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Somerset Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness. Born in Marfa, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Frank Medeiros and the late Concha (Fiero) Medeiros.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, working at Merritt Mfg for many years and tailoring on the side. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called UNITE.
A parishioner of the former Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Teresa was a member of its Women's Club. For many years she managed the Maplewood Park concession stand for the Babe Ruth League. She enjoyed sewing and was excellent at crafts, participating in many craft shows. She also enjoyed Bingo and shopping; and she loved taking care of her great grandson, Jacoby.
She is survived by: two children, Cynthia Page (Randall) of Portsmouth, R.I., and Theodore "TJ" Nowicki, Jr. of Fall River; a sister, Corinne Horan of East Hartford, CT; a grandson, Shawn Yelle (Monique); a great grandson, Jacoby; and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Frank Medeiros Jr., Manuel Medeiros, and Isidore Medeiros.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 30th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
