Thomas Gil Almeida, age 54, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly in Fall River on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Gil Almeida and the late Philomena (Botelho) Almeida. A Somerset resident for most his life, he was a graduate of Somerset High School and Bridgewater State College. He was employed by Tillotson Pearson Inc. and TPI Composites Inc. in Warren, Rhode Island, from 1978 through 2004. During his employment he held various positions, always moving up in the company. Tom was the manager of TPI's Windblade operation in Warren and Portsmouth for many years and then became the General Manager of TPI's Marine Group. In 2004 he became the Vice President of Manufacturing for Bertram Yacht in Miami, Florida, and most recently he was the Operations Manager for Hinckley Yachts in Maine. Tom loved 'being on the water' and especially enjoyed sailing. He also enjoyed golfing when he had the opportunity. Surviving family members include his two children, Richard Michael Almeida of Fall River and Jennifer Christa Almeida of Somerset, his former spouse, Susan G. (Pannoni) Almeida of Somerset, three brothers, Joseph Almeida of Sebring, FL, Michael Almeida of San Antonio, TX, and Richard Almeida of Framingham, MA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His funeral service was celebrated in Holy Rosary Church, in Fall River. Committal service was held in Notre Dame Cemetery.
