Thomas Joseph Murphy, 77, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at St. Anne's Hospital on Sunday. He was the husband of Mary Agnes (Pelton) Murphy, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, son of the late Michael Francis and Nathalie (Pecham) Murphy. A BMC Durfee High School graduate, Class of 1952, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Bryant College in 1971. For 30 years he was the Chief Fiscal Officer for Fall River Community Development, retiring in 1999. A life member of the Elks Fall River Lodge #118, he served as the recording secretary. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Chateguay Lake Association and was an active parishioner and volunteer of Sacred Heart Church. Along with his wife, he was a co-proprietor of the Deerspring Lodge in Merrill, NY. Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Sean Patrick Murphy of Fall River; daughters, Bridget Norah Murphy of Manchester, NH and Mary-Agnes Murphy (boyfriend – Rian Cocco) of Delmar, NY; brothers, Francis X. Murphy of Naples, FL, Robert E. Murphy of Lincoln, RI, Jeffrey D. Murphy of Cumberland, RI and Michael Murphy of Oakridge, NJ; a sister, Nathalie Ann Murphy-Conway of Norton, MA; aunts, Margaret Rego of Tiverton, RI and Mary Murphy of Middletown, RI; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also brother of the late Gerald Murphy. His funeral Mass was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church.
