Urania Amaral, 86, of Fall River, wife of the late Louis Amaral, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel daSilva Dias and the late Diamantina Dias
An accomplished master seamstress, she and her late husband owned and operated Urania's for many years. She was also an amazing cook, loved gardening, the outdoors, flowers, and watching the many beautiful birds around her feeders. Most notably, Urania was a kind and generous woman who enjoyed spending quality time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her loving children, Paula Schenck and her husband, Robert, of Fall River, Leonard Camara of Fall River, and Louis Amaral, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Somerset; her seven grandchildren, Lelynd Hizer, Xander Schenck, Koen Schenck, Steven Camara, Logan Amaral, Jocelyn Vieira, and David Souza; her six great-grandchildren, Gemma Camara, Jace Camara, Imbiana Amaral, Ellington Amaral, Brieanna Vieira and Braeleigh Vieira; her extended family and caregivers, Manuela Rego and Karin Camara; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several siblings.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 11th, St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Urania's memory to: St. Anthony of Padua Church, 48 Sixteenth Street, Fall River, MA 02723.
