Valentina (Medeiros) Melo, 94, of Fall River, died Tuesday, July 23, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Widow of Carlos Luis Melo. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel V. & Maria (Trindade) Medeiros, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969. Employed as a housekeeper at Crawford Nursing Home for about 8 years, retiring in the late 1970's. A parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church, she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Survivors include daughters Maria Pimental of St Michael, Azores, Dolores Nogueira & Alda Bettencourt, both of Fall River, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several godchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Miguel Melo and sister of the late Elvira Sardinha, and Manuel, Domingues & Miguel Medeiros. Funeral Mass was held Thursday July 26, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers were Michael Melo, Carlos Pimental, Jason Pimental, David Bettencourt, and Jason Bettencourt. Interement St. Patrick's Cemetery.
