Venancio R. Almeida, 85, of Fall River, died February 13, 1009 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria (Raposo) Almeida. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Francisco & Maria Julia Resendes Almeida, he emigrated to Fall River in 1968. A construction laborer for many years, he was a member of the union Local #610. Besides his wife, he leaves: children, Manuel Almeida, Maria Freire, Alda Domingues, Margarida Pacheco, Nancy Medeiros, Louie Almeida and Lelia Barbosa all of Fall River; siblings, Duarte Resendes of Toronto, Canada, and Jesuina Papoula of Fall River; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in Espirito Santo Church. Pallbearers Eddy and Keith Almeida, Michael Moniz, Brian and Eric Domingues, Ryan Medeiros, Brad Barbosa and Matthew Freire brought Venancio to his final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
