Verginia A. (Almeida) Sousa, 81, of Fall River and formerly of Kilburn St., died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was the wife of Albano C. Sousa. Born in Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Joaquim and Deolinda (do Amaral) De Almeida. A resident of Fall River since her emigration in 1973, she was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Angels Church. Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her son, Jose Luis Sousa of Fall River, brother, Francisco Almeida of Somerset, sisters, Emilia Almeida of Fall River, Carlotta Domingues of Lisbon, Portugal, and Maria L. Pinto of Fall River, and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Olivia Fernandes, Anibal DeAlmeida and Daniel Almeida. Her funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Brian Albino on January 14, at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers were Brian Levesque, Abidio and Nelson Almeida, Jose de Pina, Jorge Domingues and Jose B. Pinto. Committal services were held at St. Patrick Cemetery.
