Veronique Mbongue, 101, of Dighton, formerly of Cameroon, Africa, wife of the late Barthelemy Kom, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at home after a long illness.
Born in Bayangam, Cameroon, Africa, she was a daughter of the late Tame Magdo Nenkam and the late Marie Kadjie . Prior to her retirement she was a produce farmer on her family farm for many years and, as an entrepreneur, brewed her own beer for close to fifty years. A terrific cook, she also loved baking, farming, singing in the choir, and traveling to such places as Europe, United States, and African Countries. Veronique was a devout Catholic, prayed the rosary daily, and enjoyed spending quality time with all her family and friends.
She leaves: her biological children, Francoise Maboudom, Raphael Nadjie, Pauline Kadji, and Jean-Bosco Tagne; adopted children, Jacques Noukui, Hypolite Tchuente, Dieudonne Fosso, Gilbert Njiki, Monique Kamsu, Honoré Ninkam Potago, George Nengmegne, Chancellier Potago Potago, Jero Bouga, Aline Motuen, Amandine Yimsu, Rosalie Kom Dangnou, Augustine Tchuenzie, Pascal Tchuembou, and Yvette Kouesu just to name a few; thirty grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kom Bernadette, and Alphonse Buemgne Andre; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Kom Pascal and Tchuenteu Pierre. Step mother of late Jeanette Lieunou, Pierre Djomou, and Richard Kom
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 29th, in St. Edith Stein Church, Brockton. She was shipped to her native country and laid to rest in Bayangam Family Cemetery in Cameroon.
