Virgilio 'Virgil' Medeiros, Jr., age 68, passed away unexpectedly in Fall River on Friday, April 24, 2015. He was the husband of the late Geraldine (Fish) Medeiros. Born in the village of Agua Retorta, on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he was a son of the late Virgilio Medeiros and the late Ilda (Pimental) Medeiros. A resident of Fall River since 1959, he was employed as a salesman for many years at the former Modern Furniture, later known as Modern Galleries. When Virgil was young and started working, he thought Real Estate would be a wise financial investment for his wages, and he began to accumulate rental properties. As he grew older he realized the true return in his investment was the bond of friendship he enjoyed with his many tenants over the years. Virgil was a parishioner of St Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River and was a member of the YMCA on North Main Street. Surviving family members include two daughters; Rachel F. Chavier and her husband Gary of Rochester, MA, and Miranda Harreys and her husband Seamus of North Attleboro, MA, a brother, Nuno Medeiros and his wife Denise of Somerset, MA, a sister, Filomena "Phoebe" McCann of Swansea, MA, sister in law Zelia (Batista) Medeiros of Somerset, MA, and three grandchildren: Liam Harreys, Jacob Chavier and Mollie Harreys, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Adelino Medeiros and the late Joseph C. Medeiros. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 28th in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
