Walter Fraga Neves, age 90, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2010. He was the husband of Alice Carvalho Neves for 62 years. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Anthony I. Neves and the late Anna (Fraga) Neves. Mr. Neves was the president of Peerless Laundry. He was a trustee and member of the Advisory Board of the Citizen-Union Bank, a former member of the Planning Board of Fall River, the Kiwanis Club, Fall River Elks, Quequechan Club, the New Bedford Country Club and the Fall River Country Club. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and the former Bryant Straton College. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II and a communicant of Holy Name Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter June Kingston and her husband William of Dudley, MA, and Walda Ann Walsh and her husband David of Walpole, MA. He also has two grandchildren, David Walsh and Vanessa Walsh of Walpole. He was the brother of the late Dr. Edmund Neves. He also has several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 9, in Holy Name Church. Other arrangements were private. Donations may be made in his name to one's charity of choice.
