William Sylvia, Jr., 79, of Fall River, formerly of Dartmouth, went peacefully to be with his parents, William & Maria Isabel (Medeiros) Sylvia, his sister, Lucy Costa, and his brother, Manuel Sylvia on Feb. 21, 2008. He leaves behind his loving wife Blossom (Samson) Nery Sylvia of Fall River, his sister Hilda Macedo of Sarasota, FL, his son Michael William Sylvia of Dartmouth, MA, his daughter Joanne Sylvia of Marion, MA, his grandchildren Joshua & Jessica Gemme of Marion. He also leaves two stepsons, John Nery of Tiverton and Richard Nery of No. Providence, several nieces and nephews. He pursued many hobbies including dancing, classical guitar, painting and sailing. He was employed at Morse Cutting Tools as a machinist for 41 years and was a member of the United Electrical Workers Union and UNITE. An Army veteran, he served overseas during the Korean Conflict. His funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral. Pallbearers were his son, Michael Sylvia, Stephen Macedo, Michael Spoor and John Nery. Donations to a charity of one's choice may be made in his name.
