Zeferino Dias Costa, 73, of Fall River, husband of Mafalda C. (Valente) Costa, died unexpectedly Friday, June 13, at home. Born and raised in Capelas, St Michael, Azores, where he was employed as a postman and served in the Portuguese military, he was a son of the late Manuel Medeiros and Nazarete Costa. He moved to Canada in 1974, relocated to Fall River in 1978, where he worked as a mason and master carpenter in the local construction industry for many years, and was passionate about playing guitar. Besides his wife of 48 years, he leaves: 5 children, Nelia Costa Medeiros, Susana Costa Massa (husband Gualter), Luis Costa (wife Mary), Sandra Costa-Inacio (husband John) and David Valente-Costa; 5 grandchildren, Alyssa Medeiros, Kalyn and Zachary Massa, Sebastian and Xavier Inacio; many nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Loudalina Costa, Manuel, Irania, Lourdes, Jacinto and Leonilde Medeiros. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 17, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
