Zenaide S. Tavares, 86, of Fall River, wife of the late Joseph C. Tavares, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in the comforts of her home following a brief illness. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she was a daughter of the late Jose Pellegrina Soares and the late Natalina Garbo Pellegrina Soares.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. She loved dancing, gardening, sewing, and traveling to such places as the Azores and Brazil.

Zenaide leaves her loving children, Lillian Correia and her husband, Manuel, of Fall River and William Tavares and  his wife, Shelly, of Lakeville, MA; her four grandchildren, Nicole Vieira, Tyler Tavares, Kaylee Tavares, and Joshua Tavares; two great-grandchildren, Noah Vieira and Elijah Vieira; her sister Sandra Filomena Soares Bertolucci and her husband, Mario, of Sao Paulo, Brazil; one brother, Jose Decio Pellegrina Soares and his wife, Marlene, of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Jesse Correia and sister of the late Fernando Pellegrina Soares.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 19th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
