Obituary

Zulmira Silva, an incredible 104 years old, of Fall River, passed away at home after a short illness, surrounded by family. She was proud to be born in Fenais da Luz, St. Michael, Azores. A daughter of the late Joao Ferreira Silva and the late Maria (Oliveira) Silva, she emigrated to Fall River in 1961.

Prior to her retirement, Zulmira was employed for a number of years in the local textile, at Essex Mfg. A devout parishioner of St. Michael's Church, and member of its Holy Rosary Society, she worked over forty years preparing food for the feast, many of those years alongside her sisters. Zulmira enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and taking care of the people she loved.

She is survived by a brother-in-law, Jose Rego, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Zulmira was predeceased by all of her siblings, Diamantina Amaral, Eulalia Rego, Jose, Adriano & Joao Silva.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 31st, in St. Michael's Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
