Zulmiro "Jimmy" Luiz, 88, of Fall River, husband of the late Sophie (Habib) Luiz, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Westport, he was a son of the late Abel and Nazareth (Barbosa) Luiz. He was the owner of Luiz and Sons Chourico on Bedford Street for many years prior to his retirement. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he also loved cooking, country music, playing the guitar, boxing, playing pool (in his younger days) and traveling, especially to such places as Portugal, Brazil and Aruba. "Jimmy" will be most remembered for his smiling face and his relentless jokes; he simply enjoyed making people laugh. Most important to him was quality time spent with family. He leaves: his children, Cynthia G. Oliveira and her husband David of Swansea and James Luiz and his wife Lina of Fall River; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Edward Habib; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Wayne P. Luiz and brother of the late Tony Luiz and Mary Bouchard. Following his cremation, His Memorial Service was held on Sunday, January 28th, during calling hours in our Fall River Chapel. Interment of cremains at a later date will be private.
