Zygmund W. Gutek, better known as 'Ziggy', age 83, formerly of York Street in Fall River, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Home in Somerset, Massachusetts. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Kazimerz Gutek and the late Stanislawa (Bramorski) Gutek. A disabled World War II Veteran of the United States Army, Ziggy was employed for many years by the United States Postal Service at the Barrington Post Office in Barrington, Rhode Island. He also worked in Fall River at the former Dover Stamping Company and was a former owner of Billy's Café on Bedford Street, where he invented the now famous Chourico & Chips Sandwich. Survivors include three step children, five step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Tadeusz Bramorski, John Gutek and Frank Gutek, and the longtime companion of the late Nicolina Correira. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter and Paul Parish followed by a committal service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
